FAQ
Can my dog be boarded at your facility if he doesn't get along with
other dogs?
Yes, dogs that are
not suitable for group play are still welcome
to stay overnight at Bark 'N Lounge, but
they will not be able to join
group play. Instead, they
will be taken out for individual exercise and potty breaks at
least 4 times a day. There is no additional cost for these
potty/exercise breaks.
Is a temperament test
required for my dog to be boarded?
No. As long as your dog meets the
boarding requirements, a temperament test is not required. We
do temperament testing prior to enrolling in our daily daycare program.
What is a Temperament Test?
Because your dog's safety is our number one concern, all
dogs must pass a temperament test to be enrolled in
our daycare program. This test will assess the
social behavior of your dog. He or she will be
introduced to other dogs one by one to observe his or
her behavior. If the one on one introductions go
well, your dog is evaluated with multiple dogs.
The test could take up to one hour. We are looking
for signs of fear or aggression that could result in a
safety issue for your dog or other guests. Dogs
that do not pass the temperament test are still welcome to board at Bark 'N Lounge, but they will
not be able to join group play.
How do I make a reservation for boarding?
You may contact us via phone or request
reservations by completing the on-line reservation
form.
Please insure your pet
meets the minimum requirements for boarding. Your reservation
is not guaranteed until you receive confirmation from us.
Do I have to adhere to the
Check-In and Check-Out times?
The check-in/check-out times are in place to insure all guests have a clean
room available at time of check in. You CAN arrive
outside of these times, but we cannot guarantee a room will be
ready. Also, pets checked in prior to
standard check-in time may be charged the daily
daycare rate for the day of check-in. Pets checked out
after standard check-out time will be charged the daily
daycare rate for the day of check-out.
Why do you require the Bordetella vaccine every 6 months?
The Bordetella
vaccine helps to protect your dog against the highly contagious
infection, Bordetella, also known as kennel cough. Kennel cough is
an airborne infection and is
analogous to a chest cold in
humans and is usually not serious, but it has been documented that
the vaccine may not provide protection for a full year.
If your dog hasn't had a Bordetella
vaccination in over 12 months, it must be given at least 7 days prior to
check-in as it has
also been documented that the vaccine could take up to 7 days to
become effective in the dogs system.
As a result, we have strict requirements on the Bordetella vaccine to
insure all guests at Bark 'N Lounge are protected. If your dog
isn't current on Bordetella, try an in-home pet-sitter:

Do you accept Titers in
lieu of current vaccinations?
We do accept Titers
testing in lieu of re-vaccinating your pet.
What is Titers?
The term “titer”
refers to the strength or concentration of a substance in a
solution. When testing vaccine titers in dogs, a veterinarian takes
a blood sample from a dog and has the blood tested for the presence
and strength of the dog’s immunological response to a viral disease.
If the dog demonstrates satisfactory levels of vaccine titers, the
dog is considered sufficiently immune to the disease, or possessing
good “immunologic memory,” and not in need of further vaccination
against the disease at that time.
Why do male pets have to be neutered to stay at Bark N Lounge?
Unaltered males often exhibit more
behavior and temperament problems, including aggression towards
animals and people, and attempts to escape.
In general, animal welfare
organizations and veterinarians agree that spaying and neutering
pets is a responsible decision that will not only reduce the
over-population of pets, but will benefit the pet in many ways.
Visit the
HSUS website for more information on the benefits of
spaying/neutering your pet.
Can you keep my small dog
separated from the large dogs?
Yes, we will separate small dogs as
needed or when requested by the owner.
What do you do when a dog misbehaves?
Verbal correction is
the first method of behavior modification. When needed, we use
the
“time-out"
method to teach proper manners. Time-Out involves separating
the dog from the others for a short period of time. This is done to teach the dog that poor
behavior choices lead to a temporary loss of play privileges. Spray
bottles filled with water are used to get the attention of dogs that
do not respond to verbal correction.
Is there someone caring for
the dogs when you are closed?
Yes, we have staff here taking care of
your pets every day for breakfast, dinner, potty breaks, and play
time. Our lobby hours do not reflect the hours that we have
staff on site taking care of your pets.
Do you provide Pick-Up and Delivery?
Pick-Up and Delivery
is available upon request within a 10 mile radius. Please
inquire for rates. |
